Franklin Village Narrative
There were many more designs with lots of traffic control ideas, but this one satisfied most people since it extended the Milwaukee Avenue sidewalk and eliminated the danger point at the alley; it didn't thrill those who depended on Milwaukee for a cut through to avoid backing up (garbage, delivery, etc.).
There was compromise discussion to change the paving, walls, etc. to give stronger traffic slowing visual clues, but I don't think that plan ever became a drawing.
The only piece that got built is the planter 'screen' next to Movement Arts parking (and we had to fight them to get that built - even though they had agreed to do it).
I do want to note that it was a definite safety/visibility improvement that the south wall of the new Movement Arts Building was located farther north than the previous building on the site."
